Scouts BSA Resident Camp
Start Planning for Summer at Camp Loud Thunder 2025!
Our summer camp program introduces young Scouts to new and rewarding experiences, and provides them with supportive and caring relationships. The Trailblazer program is a great way for a young Scout to work on advancement to First Class while becoming familiar with Camp Loud Thunder.
Returning older Scouts can participate in more advanced programs such as troop overnight canoeing and Senior Patrol Leader training. Our C.O.P.E. course - with zip line - gives Scouts a chance to have some fun while working as a team through course challenges.
Camp Loud Thunder has the distinction of being the only summer camp program in the region to offer Scouts a chance to enjoy handgun marksmanship. Scouts are instructed and supervised by trained BSA/NRA adults so they can safely take part in this exciting activity.
Scouts who actively participate in what the Illowa Council’s Scout BSA Resident Camp has to offer will not be disappointed. They will become better prepared for life experiences. They will build character, strength, self-confidence, and lifelong friendships - all while having the best time of their summer!
Summer Camp Leader Orientation
We look forward to hosting our Summer Camp Leader Orientation. Our Camp Leader Orientation is your chance to find out basic camp information, see what's new for the year, and meet some of our Camp Staff! You will learn everything necessary for your Troop’s summer camp planning.
This meeting will be held in person at the Illowa Council Service Center AND virtually via zoom.

*Scouts can earn their way to camp by raising funds through the Council's Camp Card and Popcorn sales. For Illowa Council Scouts, we provide an additional discount for units that meet their Friends of Scouting goal. We also offer 'camperships' to qualifying Illowa Council Scouts. These 'camperships' are scholarships awarded to those who have special circumstances that might otherwise keep a Scout from attending camp.

- Number of family members attending camp

The deadline for 2025 Camperships is March 1, 2025 at 5:00pm. Illowa Council is not accepting paper Campership applications; all submissions must be done through the online form.

- CLICK HERE to visit the online registration through Tentaroo where you can make your $150 reservation payment online. You'll get to choose your top three sites, and we'll do our best to accommodate.
- Campsite reservation fees will be applied to the final registration total.
- Campsite reservation fees are non-refundable.

- Campership Form - Illowa Council is only accepting online submissions for Camperships in 2025. Please see the Funding Assistance section above for a list of information required. This must be submitted by the unit leader ONLY. (Not parent/guardian)
